How We Form Our Teams

The selection of this year’s team is a puzzle that needs to fit together. Our goal isn’t to assemble an elite squad, but rather to foster a harmonious and strong community where the diverse qualities and skills of participants complement each other.

Write a great application

If you dream of wearing the yellow jersey, your journey begins with a motivated application through our online system. Whether you're applying for a spot on the bike or the support team, your application is your way to show the board who you are.

Feel free to use the principles below as inspiration when writing your application. Tell us what drives your commitment to the cause, and describe the personal and professional qualities you wish to bring to the team's community.

Selection Criteria

The local Team Rynkeby committee is responsible for assembling the team and selecting this year's participants. The selection is based on 9 established principles that together ensure strong and effective teams.

Experience and Continuity
We strive to have participants with previous Team Rynkeby experience on every team, individuals who understand the project, our values, and how we work together.

Healthcare Competencies
Each team must include at least one healthcare professional.

Cycling Technical Skills
Each team should have a member with cycling technical skills – preferably a bike mechanic – who can assist with issues like flat tires, gears, brakes, and other technical challenges.

Time, Commitment, and Motivation
As a cyclist, you should have the time and desire to train with the team and be prepared for approximately 2,500 km or 125 hours of training leading up to the trip to Paris. At the same time, we expect you to actively engage in the project, the community, and the fundraising efforts for children with critical illnesses.

Gender Balance
We aim for a good balance between men and women on each team.

Age Diversity
We desire teams with participants of various ages and therefore strive for a broad age range.

Diverse Backgrounds
Team Rynkeby should encompass a variety of individuals. Therefore, we seek diversity in participants' education, social background, employment, and income.

Fair Selection
All applications are assessed based on the same overarching criteria, focusing on both the individual applicant's motivation and the overall composition of the team.

Team Size
A Team Rynkeby team consists of a maximum of 50 cyclists.
